A Very Uncommon Method for Divining the Future

Here is a little-known and unique method of communicating answers from the subconscious mind that requires no tools and can be used in almost any circumstances. There are people who discovered this technique naturally or were born with it, but almost anyone can develop it with some practice. The core of the method is to employ your own eyes as a divination instrument, observing and interpreting patterns that appear behind closed eyelids.

When you close your eyes, you see a black or brown “dark screen” with faint red or blue spot-like shapes all over it. These are caused by uneven flow of blood through small vessels inside the eylids and the resulting irregularities in light absorption which the eyes are able to perceive. With increasing bloodflow a more distinct pattern will form which can be interpreted as a meaningful symbol or glyph, that foretells the future or contains the answer to other divinatory question.

Intensifying the blood flow to the head will help this glyph to appear, and the easiest and most direct way to do it is to enage in some physical activity like exercises or workout. It also has a helpful side effect of somewhat suppressing the monkey-mind chatter. Do some squats or push-ups until you feel the heart rate noticeably increase and you start to feel some physical fatigue, and it should be enough. This preparatory stage is crucial and must not be left out, or the session will most likely fail.

Now, with blood pressure increased and internal dialogue silenced, it’s time to proceed with the divination itself. To do it, close your eyes and ask your question. Word it the same way you would with traditional divination tools like Tarot or scrying mirror, and address it to the same entities. It could be yourself, your subconscious mind, higher self, HGA, ancestors, spirit guides, angels, demons, God, etc depending on your magickal tradition and belief system. All the regular divination rules apply. For example, your query could be something as simple as “What will this day/week/month/year bring me?”

To obtain your answer, you now pass your hand over your face in a downward motion, slightly pressing on your closed eyes as you go. Don’t worry, it’s all completely safe (unless you press very hard). This slight touch on the eylids will alter the blood flow and cause a glyph-like figure to appear before your in your field of vision. It will only appear for a split second, so keep your pencil and paper ready to sketch it at once. Don’t try to memorize it, your memory will fail.

This glyph is produced by the subconscious mind, and as with other divination techniques, you will need to work out its meaning. It can be anything from an irregular-shaped blob or spot to a more conventional symbol like a zodiac or alchemical sign. Sometimes it’s primitive and single-color, sometimes very detailed, fancy and colorful. It’s very individual.

As with all systems that involve images from the subconscious, there’s no easy and straightforward process for deciphering the meaning. Sometimes the symbols can be fairly obvious, like a coin for money income or a broken heart for trouble in a relationship, other symbols can be more obscure. So be sure to keep your records and go over them occasionally.

Everything gets better with practice, and over time you’ll gather quite a large collection of glyphs, that essentially represent the vocabulary of your subconscious mind. Austin Osman Spare called it “the alphabet of desire”. With such an alphabet you will not only be able to receive complex pieces of information from the “inner realms”, but employ it to achieve outstanding results with other divinatory and magickal systems like sigil magick.
